Why we built a school staff rate

School employees keep the strangest hours of anyone we serve. Bus drivers are in the lot before 5 AM. Coaches and directors leave after 9 PM. Custodial crews work through summer on campuses everyone else has left. Those are exactly the hours when a shop is closed and a roadside bill hurts most.

They are also on a fixed salary schedule. A $200 surprise in the middle of a month is not a rounding error for a first-year teacher or a cafeteria manager — it is a real decision about something else that month. Flattening our four most common calls to $50 takes the guesswork out of it before it happens.

So this is not a promotion with a deadline. It is a standing rate with published numbers, honored at 2 AM on a Saturday exactly the way it is honored at 2 PM on a Tuesday. Anything beyond labor — a tire, a battery — stays at the same fair price everyone else pays, quoted before it is touched.

    What the $50 covers

The four calls we run most for school staff. Each one normally prices differently by vehicle and service — with a school ID they are all one number.

    Car lockout

    $50

Keys locked in the car in the staff lot, at pickup line or in your own driveway. Non-destructive entry on standard, push-button and luxury vehicles — normally $65 to $89, one flat rate with a school ID.

    Lockout service details

    Tire change

    $50

Your usable spare or a tire you already have, mounted and torqued to spec on site. Labor normally starts at $75. A delivered replacement tire is a separate part price.

    Tire services details

    Jump start

    $50

Standard 12V boost plus a battery and charging-system check so you know whether it will start again tomorrow morning. Normally $60 to $75.

    Jump start service details

    Fuel delivery

    $50

Two gallons of gas or diesel brought to you, enough to reach a station. Normally $75 all-in, and there is no after-hours upcharge on it either.

    Who qualifies

We do not rank job titles. If the district issued you a badge, you get the $50 rate — public, charter and private campuses alike.

    Teachers and substitutes

Classroom teachers, long-term and daily substitutes with a district badge, and student teachers placed on a campus.

    Aides and paraprofessionals

Instructional aides, paras, special-education aides and one-on-one support staff.

    Campus administration and office staff

Principals, assistant principals, counselors, registrars, front-office and attendance staff.

    Librarians, nurses and specialists

Librarians, campus nurses, speech and diagnostic staff, coaches, band and theater directors.

    Bus drivers and transportation

Drivers, monitors, mechanics and transportation-department employees — the earliest and latest shifts on any campus.

    Custodial, cafeteria and district staff

Custodial and maintenance crews, cafeteria and child-nutrition staff, and district office employees.

Retired educators are covered by a different program — Community Care rates start at $35.

The four calls we get from campuses

    5:40 AM, will not crank

Your first-period class starts whether the car does or not. A jump start is $50 with a school ID and we run overnight dispatch, so a 5 AM call is a normal call for us, not an after-hours one.

    Keys locked in at dismissal

Purse and keys on the driver's seat, doors locked, bus lane filling up. Non-destructive entry at $50 regardless of whether your car has a push-button start or a luxury lock system.

Flat after practice or a late meeting

Dark lot, slow leak that finally gave out. We mount your spare for $50 labor, and if the tire has to be replaced you get the $129–$189 part price before we source anything.

    Out of gas before payday

It happens, and it happens most at the end of the month. $50 brings you 2 gallons — enough to get to a station without a tow bill on top of it.

    How to get the rate

    1. 1

Call or text and say "I'm school staff"

Dial (214) 785-2102 or send a text. Say you are school staff at the start and the dispatcher applies the $50 rate on the spot — no code, no enrollment, no coupon to dig up.

    2. 2

      Give your exact location

An address, a campus name and which lot, cross streets or a dropped pin. Staff lots and pickup lines are big — telling us which side of the building saves real minutes.

    3. 3

      Tell us what happened

Locked out, flat tire, will not crank, or out of gas. That decides which of the four flat-rate services you need and what the technician brings.

    4. 4

Get the total before anyone rolls

The dispatcher states the $50 labor rate plus the $19 dispatch fee before dispatching. If a tire or battery turns out to be needed, you get that price before it is touched.

    5. 5

Show your school ID on arrival

Badge, district ID or campus ID — that is the whole verification. If the badge is locked inside the car you called about, tell dispatch and we will handle it on site.

    Where the rate applies

Anywhere in our Dallas-Fort Worth service area — Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Garland, Mesquite, Lewisville, Denton, Burleson and the surrounding communities. On campus, at home or on the shoulder of a highway, the rate is the same.

    • No campus requirement — the rate follows your ID, not your location
    • Same rate overnight, weekends, holidays and all summer
    • Most DFW calls arrive in 15 to 25 minutes

Recent DFW Jump Start — the Same Work the School Staff Rate Covers

Red Clore JNC950 Jump-N-Carry commercial jump pack resting on the core support of a blue sedan with the hood raised, clamps on the OEM battery posts during a 24/7 mobile jump start in Garland TX by All Hours Roadside
Jump Start — Blue Sedan, Garland TXBlue sedan that cranked slow and then went silent in a Garland garage off Firewheel Pkwy, minutes from the President George Bush Turnpike. The tech set a Clore JNC950 commercial pack on the core support (never on the battery itself, to keep vibration off the pack), clamped straight to the OEM posts, and the engine fired on the first attempt once the pack topped off the surface charge. A free load and charging-system test followed so the driver knew whether the battery would strand them again — alternator output checked out, the battery did not hold. Flat $60 jump start plus $19 dispatch, 24/7 across Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, Wylie and Mesquite and along I-635 / I-30 / PGBT. We carry batteries on the truck, so a same-visit AGM replacement is $249–$289 installed with a 3-year warranty and free core recycling. Teacher & school staff rate questions, answered

What the $50 covers, who qualifies, and what is priced separately.

    The $50 rate

What is the All Hours Roadside teacher and school staff rate?
School employees with a school or district ID pay a flat $50 for labor on four services: a car lockout, a tire change, a jump start, or fuel delivery. That $50 replaces our normal labor pricing on those four jobs — no membership, no enrollment, no coupon code to remember. The $19 dispatch fee still applies and the dispatcher states your total before a technician is sent, so nothing about the price is a surprise when the truck arrives.
Which four services does the $50 flat rate cover?
Vehicle lockout, tire change, jump start and fuel delivery are the four $50 services. A lockout is non-destructive entry on a standard vehicle. A tire change is mounting your usable spare or a tire you already have. A jump start is a standard 12V boost attempt. Fuel delivery brings you two gallons of gas or diesel so you can reach a station. Each of those normally prices differently by vehicle and service — with a school ID they are all one number.
Is the $50 rate cheaper than your regular pricing?
Yes, on every one of the four services. Our published rates are $65 to $89 for a lockout depending on the lock system, $60 to $75 for a jump start, tire-change labor starting at $75, and $94 total for standard fuel delivery. With a school ID all four are $50, which means the deepest cut lands on luxury and push-button lockouts and on tire work — the two calls school staff make most.
Does the $19 dispatch fee still apply?
Yes, the $19 dispatch fee applies to school-staff calls the same as any other call, and the dispatcher discloses it before dispatching a technician. It covers sending a stocked truck and a technician to your exact location instead of you paying for a tow to a shop. So a $50 lockout with a school ID is $69 out the door, quoted to you on the phone before anyone rolls.

    Who qualifies

Who counts as school staff for this rate?
Anyone who carries a school or district employee ID qualifies — classroom teachers, teacher aides and paraprofessionals, campus administration, front-office and registrar staff, counselors, librarians, nurses, coaches, band and theater directors, custodial and maintenance crews, cafeteria staff, bus drivers and district office employees. We do not rank job titles. If the district issued you an ID badge, you get the $50 rate.
Do I have to show my school ID?
Show your school or district ID to the technician when they arrive, and mention the rate to the dispatcher when you call so it is quoted up front. That is the whole verification step — no pay stub, no employment letter, no district approval, no application to fill out ahead of time. If your badge is locked in the car you are calling about, tell dispatch and we will sort it out on site instead of arguing about it in a parking lot.
Do I have to be at a school or on campus to get $50?
No. The rate follows your ID, not your location — it applies anywhere in our service area, at any hour. Your driveway at 5:40 AM, the campus staff lot, a grocery store parking lot on a Sunday, the shoulder of I-635 on the way home from a district meeting: same $50. Tying the rate to campus would only help the people who happen to break down during school hours, which is not when most of these calls come in.
Does the rate apply to substitutes, retired teachers or college staff?
Active substitutes with a district-issued badge qualify. Retired educators and college or university employees are not covered by this specific program, but retired school staff who are 65 or older, a veteran or living on fixed retirement income usually qualify for our Community Care rates instead, which start lower at $35. Tell the dispatcher your situation and you will get a straight answer about which program fits before anything is dispatched.

Parts, limits and how it works

What if I need a new tire or a new battery, not just labor?
Parts are not part of the $50 — a delivered and installed tire runs $129 to $189 depending on size, and a battery installed runs $249 to $289 depending on the vehicle. Those are already our standard prices and they are well under what a shop or a dealer charges for the same part with a tow on top. We know teachers are on a budget, so the technician quotes the part before touching it, tells you honestly whether it can wait, and never installs anything you did not approve.
How do I get the rate when I call?
Say "I'm school staff" at the start of the call and the dispatcher applies the $50 rate right there. Then give your location as precisely as you can — an address, a campus name and lot, cross streets or a dropped pin — describe what happened, and you get a confirmed total and an ETA before dispatch. Most DFW calls arrive in 15 to 25 minutes. You can also send it by text if you would rather not talk in traffic.
Is this a district benefit or a union program?
No, this is an All Hours Roadside company program, funded by us and administered by us. No district, campus, union, insurer or government agency pays for it, endorses it or reimburses us, and using it has no effect on any benefit you receive. We set the rate, we honor it 24/7, and we can change it in the future — but as long as it is published on this page, it is the price you will be quoted.
Does the $50 rate change overnight, on weekends or during holidays?
No. It is $50 at 2 PM on a Tuesday and $50 at 2 AM on a Saturday, including weekends, teacher in-service days, holidays and the whole summer break. Our dispatch runs 24 hours a day year-round, and the rate is not seasonal or promotional — it has no end date. If the program ever changes, the rate published here changes with it, and you will never be quoted more than what this page says on the day you call.

    Important pricing notice

The $50 rate applies to qualifying school employees on the four listed services and covers basic labor only. The $19 dispatch fee applies. Replacement tires ($129–$189), replacement batteries ($249–$289 installed), key replacement or programming, towing, specialty equipment and advanced repairs are priced separately and quoted before any chargeable work begins. Rates and eligibility may change as the program develops.
