What balancing fixes — and what it does not

A wheel that is out of balance shows itself as a vibration that appears at a particular speed, usually between 50 and 70 mph, and fades away above and below it. If you feel it in the steering wheel, the imbalance is generally at the front; if you feel it in the seat or the floor, it is generally at the rear. That distinction is the fastest way to know what actually needs work before anyone touches the car.

Balancing does not fix everything that vibrates. A vibration that is worst under braking is normally warped rotors, not wheels. A shimmy that worsens over time alongside uneven tread wear usually means alignment or a worn suspension component. A thump felt at low speed is often a flat-spotted or separated tire. We check the tires and wheels on-site and tell you which of these you are dealing with rather than balancing something that will not improve.

Wheel weights come off with age, tires lose rubber unevenly, and a single pothole can move a weight or bend a rim in one hit — which is why a car that rode smoothly last month can start vibrating with nothing obvious having changed. Doing the work at your home or workplace across DFW removes the shop visit from the equation entirely.

Mobile Tire Balancing Service — FAQ

What are signs my tires need balancing?
Common signs include steering wheel vibration at highway speeds, uneven tire wear, and a shaky or uncomfortable ride. These symptoms often appear above 45 mph. See: Dallas roadside hub.
Can you balance tires at my location?
Yes! We bring professional balancing equipment to your home, office, or any location in the DFW area for convenient mobile service.
How much does mobile tire balancing cost?
Mobile tire balancing in DFW typically costs $89 for all four tires. We provide upfront pricing before service.
How often should tires be balanced?
Tires should be balanced whenever you get new tires, rotate tires, or notice vibration. Many recommend rebalancing every 5,000-6,000 miles.
What's the difference between alignment and balancing?
Balancing corrects weight distribution on the tire/wheel assembly. Alignment adjusts suspension angles so tires meet the road properly. Both affect tire wear and handling.
Steering wheel shake or seat shake — does it matter which?
Yes. Shake felt through the steering wheel usually points to the front wheels; shake felt in the seat or floor usually points to the rear.
My car shakes when braking — is that a balance problem?
No. Vibration that appears under braking is normally warped brake rotors rather than wheel balance.
Will balancing fix uneven tire wear?
No. Uneven wear usually means alignment or a worn suspension component. Balancing corrects vibration, not wear patterns.
Can a pothole throw a wheel out of balance overnight?
Yes. A single hard impact can knock a wheel weight off or bend a rim, which is why a car that rode smoothly last month can start vibrating with nothing else changed.
Do you balance wheels with aftermarket rims?
Yes, including larger-diameter aftermarket wheels, provided the tire and wheel are undamaged.
