    Mobile brake service questions

How do I know my brakes need attention?
A high-pitched squeal at low speed usually means the wear indicator is touching the rotor. A grinding noise means the pad material is gone and the rotor is being damaged. A pulsing pedal generally points to warped rotors. See: Dallas roadside hub.
Is a spongy brake pedal urgent?
Yes. A soft or sinking pedal suggests air or a fluid leak in the hydraulic system, and the vehicle should not be driven until it is inspected.
Can brake work be done at my home or office?
Pad and rotor work can be done on-site where the vehicle is parked on level ground with room to work safely alongside it.
How long do brake pads last?
Typically 30,000 to 60,000 miles, but heavy stop-and-go DFW commuting and towing shorten that considerably.
Do you replace rotors as well as pads?
When rotors are scored, warped, or below minimum thickness, yes — fitting new pads to bad rotors just repeats the problem.
What if the vehicle is unsafe to drive?
Tell dispatch. If we judge the brakes unsafe we will say so rather than patching it, and recommend the vehicle be towed to a shop.
